About the plan

Why we're planning the village now

The Planning Commission is developing a Village Master Plan that brings residents and a Steering Committee together to agree on a shared vision and plan for housing, safe streets, and a vibrant village center.

What this plan sets out to do

  1. Make quick progress on a few selected priorities.
  2. Create a long-term plan that prioritizes town projects and spending within a holistic vision of the village's future.
  3. Establish a lasting engagement process, including for the 2028 Town Plan.

Where the plan applies

The study area covers the historic village; extends north to Huntley Meadow and Moore Lane Bridge and along Union Village Road; east to River Road; and south along US Route 5 to the town line.

Focus areas

Focus areas and outcomes

The Village Master Plan centers on three focus areas. Your input on each one will help set the plan's priorities.

General survey

An early step in public engagement. It gathers background on all three focus areas to help shape ideas that are actionable, publicly vetted, and supported.

Bike, Pedestrian, and Road Safety

Walking and biking in the village feel enjoyable and safe and can be an effective means of transportation to village destinations.

APPROACH

How the process works

Resident input guides every phase. Early surveys gather background, and workshops turn it into ideas that are actionable, publicly vetted, and supported. Agendas, notes, recordings, and the work plan and budget are posted publicly. Early priorities move forward while the full plan is developed.
